This is a teen romance short story. Riley Coleman had dated Nick Stevens all through high school. They were about to get engaged. But Nick had accepted a football scholarship to Michigan State, which meant he'd be moving out of Fairbanks, Alaska four the next four years. Meanwhile when Riley asked her mother why she never contacted her father to tell him she was pregnant, setting off a tirade in her mother. Her mother started drinking and when Riley spent the night out with Nick. Her mother accused her of having sex and trying to get pregnant to keep Nick home. Now Riley was not only losing a boyfriend she dearly loved, but her mother had turned on her too!?
