Continuing the joke, the man paid for her with a credit card. Furious with her husband when it became a mess, she walked out of their antique store with the stranger, intending to annoy him. Now she was in trouble. A well played fantasy caught her off guard, and took a grip of her. In the distant past a man could sell his wife in the local fair, and a rich man could buy her. Bridget had been sold to a handsome rich young man, and he was dominating her, joking around, as though she were his slave. His strong manly presence was pushing her into responding to his dominance with submission. She played at being his servant, and that turned into acting like a slave. She apologised for not being able to pay him back, and explained her husband was going to get a loan from the bank. She felt pathetic and vulnerable, which was far from her usual boisterous, demanding way. Finding herself feeling beholden to him, and sliding into giving in to him, she worried why it was happening. Her favourite fantasy was coming true she had been bought by this stranger to be his slave!?
It couldn't be, it wasn't legal, it couldn't be held up in court. So why was she still there, unable to escape home? There was something about him. He was young, handsome, rich, and she wasn't. Well, she was beautiful, even attractive, but surely too old for him. He was keeping her there by working on her sense of moral duty, needing to pay back the large sum he paid for her. He was also using flattery, which surely he didn't believe, though he seemed sincere. The fantasy was growing stronger, with every minute she stayed until it was almost impossible to leave.
