Bengali is a rich language. It has a thousand years of heritage. The two great, outstanding and topmost poets of Bengali language are Rabindranath Tagore, a Nobel Laureate, and Kazi Nazrul Islam. Among the Bengali Muslim poets, poet Jasimuddin could set a new trend, after Kazi Nazrul Islam, by primarily focusing on the village life. Farrukh did not believe in ‘art for art sake’ and highlighted in his literature the sufferings of the oppressed, subjugated and exploited and wrote against materialism and consumerism.
