Bengali is a rich language. It has a thousand years of heritage. The two great, outstanding and topmost poets of Bengali language are Rabindranath Tagore, a Nobel Laureate, and Kazi Nazrul Islam. Among the Bengali Muslim poets, poet Jasimuddin could set a new trend, after Kazi Nazrul Islam, by primarily focusing on the village life. Kazi Nazrul Islam opposed the British colonial rule in his literature and he came to be known as a ‘rebel poet’. His unflinching support for the destitute and oppressed and his commitment for justice, freedom and independence are highly-praised and much-admired. He is widely acclaimed for upholding the principles, beliefs, traditions and history of the Muslims in his literature. He espoused a pluralist approach in his literature. It was not easy for any poet to set a new trend upholding the same philosophy, ideology, belief, tradition and historical myth which poet Kazi Nazrul Islam enunciated and articulated in his literature, but poet Farrukh Ahmad did that brilliantly and amazingly. He made an attempt to create a literature of unmixed culture - a distinct cultural trend. It was, therefore, a long time necessity to present poet Farrukh to readers worldwide. Poet Farrukh brought to light the lost treasures of the puthi literature and gave it a new life with extraordinary literary exquisiteness, elegance and grandeur. He plunged deep into the past literature and absorbed much of its aroma and fragrance and, while writing, he gave it a new shape. He was a puritan and espoused Muslim culture, tradition and belief in his literature in its true spirit. He promoted a novel, creative, unique literary style and retained a high aesthetic standard. He made a call for renewal and revival ? renaissance- standing on the firm foundation, the legacy of the past. Farrukh did not believe in ‘art for art sake’ and highlighted in his literature the sufferings of the oppressed, subjugated and exploited and wrote against materialism and consumerism. He believed in influencing the countrymen’s psyche and the cultural trend by using literature His thoughts, whether about literature or culture or society or reform, are all literature-centered. ‘Eagle’s Eye: Life and Works of Farrukh Ahmad‘ is the first book in the English language on poet Farrukh Ahmad. Writer, Shah Abdul Halim, in this book, has focused on many hitherto unknown aspects of life and works of poet Farrukh This book will, no doubt, introduce poet Farrukh Ahmad to readers worldwide who are interested to know more about Bengali literature.画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。
